What is a blogger?
A blogger is a writer who regularly writes on a subject(s) they are passionate about. That writing is then published on a section of a website called a blog. Another way you can think of a blog is an online journal that can make you money.
Example of popular and profitable blog niches

How to become a blogger that makes money
You can become a freelance writer for an already established blog which I detail in the Freelance Writing section of this post.
The most profitable (and in my opinion the most rewarding) way to become a blogger is to start your own blog and publish content on it. I speak from experience as the creator of the blog you’re now reading.
Blogging has completely changed my life. It’s allowed me to take control of my time and finances so I can spend my life doing what I love to do. If I knew how fulfilling it would turn out to be, I’d have started a blog years ago.
I’ve created a thorough yet simple guide to teach you how to create a profitable blog from scratch. And, I do this for free.

Online Coaching
Income Range for Online Coaching: According to Payscale, you can make between $30,000-$200,000 per hour with a job as an online coach or consultant. In-demand freelance online coaches and consultants can command as much as they’d like and make beyond $200,000.
Requirements: Desktop or laptop, high-speed internet, marketable skill(s), website or blog, and the best online course platform.
Type of Job: Part-time, full-time, freelance.
If you are passionate about helping others succeed in a specific area, online coaching is a work-at-home career you should highly consider.
Businesses and individuals are turning to online experts more than ever to solve their problems and improve the execution of their solutions.
This is why there’s no better time than right now to become an online coach. In fact, personal development has grown to a $9.9 billion dollars industry in just the United States alone. And, there are no signs of this industry slowing down.
What is an online coach?
An online coach is an individual with particular expertise that helps a client online in that area of expertise by providing specific strategies and guidance to maximize that client’s potential.
Online coaching differs from related jobs such as online consulting, therapy, training, or mentoring. However, if you enjoy coaching, you may find success in those related jobs as well.
There are a wide variety of areas of expertise (or niches) for online coaches.
Here are a few examples of in-demand online coaching niches:
- Life coaching
- Health and Fitness coaching
- Spiritual coaching
- Business coaching
- Career coaching
- Financial coaching
- Personal coaching
How to become a successful online coach or consultant
Choose an area of expertise that you are passionate about.
Don’t just do something because you think it will make you a lot of money. Choose an area of expertise because you love it wholeheartedly and enjoy helping others reach their best in that area. If you do this, you’ll make as much money as you’d like.
Develop an online platform.
Let’s face it.
People aren’t going to seek out a coach that’s inexperienced or non-credible. Developing your platform is an absolute must for enhancing credibility and showcasing your experience.
Your platform should consist of a blog, social media, and a YouTube channel. In the beginning, you should start off with only one of these three so you don’t get overwhelmed or spread yourself too thin. I recommend signing up for LinkedIn and starting a blog first. Having a great blog will enhance your credibility, and with LinkedIn, you’ll have a forum for reaching to businesses and individuals for online coaching jobs or consulting.
Market yourself and your expertise.
If no one knows who you are, you won’t get the best coaching job opportunities or have any clients seek you out. Therefore, you should market yourself on a regular basis both online and offline.
Sell courses for passive income.
Selling digital courses is a great way to further your online coaching career beyond a work-from-home job. Online courses also strengthen your credibility, giving you a stronger impression that you know what you’re talking about in your area of expertise. If you’re looking for the best platform to create your own online course, I recommend Teachable.
Teachable is affordable, easy to use, and set up. Plus, their analytics are second-to-none. Analytics are incredibly important for scalability and therefore profitability.
Never stop improving yourself or learning about your area of expertise.
This idea is very important!
To be the best online coach you can be, you need to master your craft so to speak. Being a master will set you apart from every other coach out there and allow you to attract the best-paying online coaching jobs and the highest-paying clients.
Where can I find legitimate online coaching jobs?
The first websites I’d start would be ZipRecruiter, UpWork, or reaching out to individuals and businesses through LinkedIn.
Here’s a tip. If you want to accelerate the process of getting hired for a legitimate online coaching job, I recommend paying for a service like Flexjobs.
Flexjobs vets online coaching jobs and other work from home jobs for legitimacy, accuracy, and gives you access to job search resources such as resume review by experts.

Great job. I like this blog post. It was well researched.
I’m leaving my regular job as editor in a publishing house, and moving from the city to a town in my country.
From your post, I could get jobs in editing, proofreading and transcribing. How do I get such jobs?
Greg, I applaud you. I must say I have read a great deal of “Work from home ” shenanigans but I have to give it to you its very convincing . You have peaked my interest. So, I am convinced. With that said, in your opinion on someone who is interested in Blogging, Writing, Coaching and Proofreading which one would be a great start ? Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Thank you for the kind words, Silvia. I do my best to provide the best resources and content available. Let me know how your job journey goes!
Gosh, I wish it was easier but it seems you have work super hard and there is no guarantee.
I set up a fitness and diet blog with Seo and affiliate links so far crickets.
Zero money.
Also there’s no guarantee you get the online jobs. I wish there was a better way but if you hustle and you are lucky then maybe.
Maybe I haven’t tried hard enough.
Do Online Coaching professionals really make between $30,000-$200,000 per hour?
This is awesome! I have spent MONTHS trying to put together and research legit options like what you have compiled here. Thank you thank you. I am a stay at home mom and unfortunately I recently was charged with an undeserved felony. It is hindering my ability to make money everywhere I turn. I am a college graduate with BS in health sciences, I have always been told I am an excellent writer/ proof reader. Before I became a mom, I worked for a major Pharma Company as a Clinical Project Manager for 5 years.
Could you take your recommendations/ research one step further for me and provide any information you’ve come across regarding potential exclusions from your above list for a felon? Or better yet- any specific direction you could point me in where you know a background check will not be an exclusionary factor for someone like me??? I really need some help to find legit opportunities to earn significant money from home ASAP to support my family as a single mother. I am determined not to let this unfortunate misunderstanding/mishap ruin my life…but I am becoming increasingly concerned at every turn.
I would be so grateful for any help you provide based on your experience!
Kate, Sounds like you are looking for a J.O.B. and worried about a perspective employer doing a background check and finding a felony conviction in your past. I ran across this recently with a family member because they knew I had hired and fired alot if employees in the past. Here is what I shared with them. 1st, get a copy of your background report from your local police Dept so you know exactly what it says. You also be allowed to include an explanation of the event you are concerned about. Now that you know what’s on your report you can be HONEST about the issue when applying for a J.O.B. and perhaps discuss it further in an interview.
2nd:. Acknowledge that you are seeking a J.O.B. and looking to provide your knowledge, skills and labor in exchange for a paycheck. When learn the SKILL of solving a problem that alot of people have …. You’ll be able to write yourself a much bigger paycheck and will never have to worry about someone doing a background check. INVEST in yourself and learn new skills that YOU can sell to people or businesses who need your talents.
“Prospective employer”, lol….think I ought to look into proofing work….😊 Best of luck to Miss Kate!
Great Advice…
You have a word used incorrectly on line #8. Change “if” to “of”. I can spot a gramatical mistake a mile away. I’ve found them in magazines, published books, memos from work, the list goes on. I always jokingly say I need to be an editor. But after reading this article, my interest has peaked, and I’m going to step out of my comfort zone and seek out a job that could use my proofing skills. I’m transitioning from a 30 year career as an educator (language arts and literature) to working part time. Many of these jobs sound exciting and right up my alley. Thanks for such a knowledgeable and comprehensive list of options.
Thank you for the Great post with valuable information…i have a question please.are all the websites listed for USA citizens only? Or non US citizens too?
Thank you
Nissrin

Hi Greg I found your article quite interesting. But I found the same error quite a few times where you said, “Work from jobs.” Instead of work from home jobs. I’m sorry, like you said in your article…people that hate reading errors. I am thinking about becoming a proof reader.
Once again great article.
Hi, Laura. I’m not sure why that happened but they are all fixed to say work from home jobs. Thanks for letting me know!
Hey Greg,
Am interested in work at home jobs but most of them pay through PayPal. The limitation with this is that I cannot withdraw money from my PayPal account because of the restriction in my country of residence.
Would you please recommend a website that uses other modes of payment other than PayPal, eGifts cards.
Thanks in advance.
Hi, Etendy. What country do you reside in if you don’t mind me asking? Depending on where you are I’ll be able to point you more in the right direction.
Generally speaking for outside the US, you can find some legit work from home jobs that pay by check/direct deposit through Flexjobs here: https://www.flexjobs.com/us/Anywhere-telecommuting-jobs.
You may also try a website like: https://waywithwordsjobs.com/
I hope this helped.
I am new to this and as i wanted to move ahead to work from home. Can someone please advise how this can help to get an opportunity

Thank you for putting this together in this way including all of the links to the resources!! I’m great at proofreading but I’ve never actually been paid for it, lol…What a great idea!! I’m hoping that you will give me my very first proofreading job because I noticed quite a few errors in this.😬 I would love to help you out and what a great start that would be…Proofreading the person that gave me the idea to be a professional proofreader!!!🤗
I’m glad this post has been an efficient resource for you, Wendy. I’ll have you at the top of list, when I’m looking to hire a proofreader one of these days!
