Best Online Part-time Jobs
Online survey taker
Average hourly wage range: $6-$25 an hour.
Level of difficulty: 0 out of 5.
If you’re looking for a super easy online job you can do from home or anywhere to make extra money, becoming an online survey taker is a great choice.
An online survey taker gives their opinion on current events, the latest products, travel locations, entertainment, etc. and gets paid for it!
How cool is that?
Not to mention, you can take surveys from your phone, tablet or computer as long as you have an internet connection.
Fun fact. My first ever dollar made online was by taking surveys here. It was so easy to do, and I couldn’t believe at first that you could make extra money as an online survey taker!
One of the best aspects of being an online survey taker is that you can start making money in minutes. Other part-time jobs may take longer to make money and receive payment.
How to get started as an online survey taker
Becoming an online survey taker only takes a few minutes. To get started as an online survey taker, all you have to do is sign up for a free account on a survey website and complete your profile using your e-mail or Facebook for convenience.
The #1 survey website I recommend is SurveyJunkie. They pay higher than other survey websites with the highest survey I’ve seen paying $50 for about two hours worth of time.
Unlike other survey websites, SurveyJunkie will pay you through PayPal within 24 hours. So, if you need to make money now SurveyJunkie is going to be your best bet.

Got laser eyes for grammar mistakes?
I bet you didn’t know you could turn your superpower into a good-paying part-time job!
As an online proofreader, you will be checking the final copy of written material for grammar, punctuation, spelling, tense, and readability.

High-speed internet has opened up all kinds of new opportunities to work from home. One of those opportunities is online English tutoring.
If you are a native English speaker with a bachelor’s degree who loves working with kids, you can make money on the side as an online English tutor.
There is a big demand in the international community, especially in China, for children to become fluent in English.
A popular company called VIPKID pays teachers from all over the world to teach English to Chinese children aged 4 to 12 through the computer.
VIPKID provides you with the English curriculum, and you won’t have any homework to grade! All you have to do is focus on teaching kids with a smile on your face! This is an excellent opportunity to work from home in your spare time (and make a full-time income on part-time hours)!

Online Transcription
Average hourly pay range: $12-$27 per hour.
Level of difficulty: 2 out of 5 stars.
Transcription is the art of listening to audio, or video and typing them into a digital document for record-keeping or some other purpose.
Like freelance writing, online transcription is a good part-time job or secondary job since it’s so flexible and pays well.
Besides that, transcription is one of the oldest and arguably most important jobs that humanity has ever had.
Think about this.
Without transcription, many of humanity’s most important historical documents, family trees, medical and scientific advancements, you name it would’ve never been recorded and therefore known to us in the modern era.
So, if you choose to get into online transcription, know that your job is actually pretty darn significant!
How do I find online transcription jobs?
Flexjobs, Scribie, Babbletype, and Transcribeme are great places to find online transcription jobs.
If you’re serious about starting a transcription career, you should learn from an experienced, profitable transcriptionist who already knows what it takes to succeed. Without a doubt, that person is Janet Shaugnessy.
She has been a high-earning transcriptionist for over 10 years and has parlayed her expertise into helping others become high-earning transcriptionists as well.
For a short period of time, she’s offering a free 7-day online course that will show you what you need to do to be successful at transcription, and how to find good-paying clients.

Blogging
Average hourly pay range: $14-$50 per hour.
Level of difficulty: 2 out of 5 stars.
Blogging is an in-demand job in which a writer regular produces written content for a blog that is in a specific niche or field.
Online blogging jobs are going to be similar to freelance writing opportunities. The main difference is that with blogging jobs, you will be writing content primarily for one company or blogger instead of several. So, if you like having more stability with your income and employer, I’d say choose blogging jobs over freelance.
If you’re willing to pay the price of a large pizza, Flexjobs is an excellent place to find legit online blogging jobs fast. They screen to make sure they are legitimate, so you don’t have to worry about job scams online. Click here to create an account on Flexjobs.
How to start your own blog as a part-time side business
Blogging is my favorite side business of all time.
What I love about starting your own blog is that it can be done alongside your regular job as a way to build another stream of income for yourself. In fact, this is what my blog, the Luster Lexicon (what you’re reading now), started out as. Now in 2022, I’m able to blog full-time and I couldn’t be happier.
By the way. I’ve created a free and thorough guide to teach you how to create a profitable blog from scratch.
You will also learn exactly how I built the Luster Lexicon from the ground up as a blog that now makes me $6000 per month (and quickly growing).
Click here to learn how to start a profitable blog from scratch
Besides giving you a path to financial freedom, the best things about blogging are that it requires very little investment, and gives you a way to monetize your own passion and education.
Best Gig Jobs
DoorDash
Average hourly pay range: $10-$25 per hour.
Level of difficulty: 1 out of 5 stars.
DoorDash is one of the best gig jobs available in 2022, and a great alternative to ridesharing jobs like Lyft or Uber.
On your own schedule, you pick up food from local restaurants and deliver food to businesses or individuals. The flexibility DoorDash provides makes for an excellent choice as a weekend job or something to do when you need to make quick side money.
Payout is virtually instant. When you’re ready to cash out, DoorDash gives you the option to withdraw your earnings to your bank account. Your money should show up in your bank account within hours.

How to become a Dasher
Signing up to become a DoorDash delivery driver (also known as a Dasher) is incredibly easy. Let me walk you through the steps:
- Download the DoorDash mobile app here.
- Fill out your details such as name, e-mail, phone number, etc.
- You will be taken to a new screen that asks you for permission to perform a background check. After you give permission, you will be mailed a welcome package, which includes your red card. The red card will be used to pay for the food you’ll be delivering to clients.
- Once you get your welcome package in the mail, you will need to complete an orientation. Orientation can be done online or in-person and takes about 30 minutes. After orientation, you are ready to start making money as a delivery driver!
Click here to sign up for DoorDash and start earning real cash on your own schedule
One other thing.
How would you like to make extra money while you’re dashing? There’s this free app I’ve been using called GetUpside that pays me for every gallon of gas I put in my car. It’s really that straightforward.
All you have to do is fill up your tank at the gas station as usual, take a picture of the receipt so it knows how much to pay you, and send the picture in through the GetUpside app.
You can download GetUpside for free through this link.
Postmates
Average hourly pay range: $9-$20 per hour.
Level of difficulty: 1 out of 5 stars.
Postmates is another takeout delivery driver app. Similar to DoorDash, you get paid for picking up a customer’s order from a fast food or dining restaurant and delivering it to their place of business or residence.
For most locations, I have found that Postmates pays slightly less than DoorDash. But, it’s still worth signing up for Postmates.
Why?
Because this way you can have access to more delivery jobs, and you can select the highest paying job between the two in realtime.
Click here to download Postmates and sign up as a delivery driver.
How to join the Postmates fleet as a delivery driver
The process is nearly identical to that of DoorDash. Let me give you a straightforward guide:
- You will need to sign up on Postmates website or download the official Postmates app. I recommend doing both.
- Fill out your basic personal details such as your name, zipcode and e-mail.
- Authorize a background check.
- Upload a photo of yourself to your profile.
- Connect your Postmates card when you have it.
You should be able to start delivering through Postmates within a few days!
Instacart
Average hourly pay range: $7-$25 per hour.
Level of difficulty: 1.5 out of 5 stars.
Instacart is a reliable side gig if you need money fast and love to shop!
Everyone needs to get groceries, and our smartphones have made it easier for those groceries to come to us. Instacart is one of the apps making this happen.
You can use Instacart to make extra money part-time by signing up as an in-store shopper or full-service shopper.
The in-store shopper shops for items on a customer’s shopping list (provided on the Instacart app) and bags them for pick up.
The full-service shopper also shops for groceries on a customer’s behalf but then delivers the groceries to the customer’s home. Full-service shoppers usually make more money than an in-store shopper, but you will need a car to complete the job.
Another great thing about Instacart is that, unlike other side gigs, there are opportunities for career advancement. It’s not uncommon for shoppers to become shift leads and site managers. These positions can pay as high as $80,000 dollars per year.
Sound good?
Click here to sign up for Instacart for free.
How to get started on Instacart
Getting started on Instacart is really simple. If you’re ready to start shopping and making money, here are the steps you need to take right now:
- Download the free Instacart app here.
- Fill out your details such as name, e-mail, phone number, etc.
- Choose to be a full-service shopper (shop for groceries and deliver them) or in-store shopping (shopping for groceries only).
- You will need to complete interview questions and undergo a quick background check.
Once you pass the interview and background check, you are ready to start working on your own schedule and getting paid weekly! That’s really all there is to it.
Tap here to start making money with Instacart
Shipt
Average hourly pay range: $7-$24 per hour.
Level of difficulty: 1.5 out of 5 stars.
Shipt is similar to Instacart and a direct competitor.
There are a few main differences, however.
- In addition to groceries, you can deliver home goods and electronics.
- Shipt is available in more cities than Instacart but is partnered with less retailers. Both companies continue to expand their range.
That’s pretty much it. Similar to the strategy I laid out with Postmates and DoorDash, you can’t go wrong with signing up for Shipt and Instacart. This way you can see which company has better deliveries in your area.
Click here to sign up as a delivery driver for Shipt
Rover
Average hourly pay range: $8-$25 per hour.
Level of difficulty: 2 out of 5 stars.
If you love animals, Rover may just be your perfect part-time opportunity!
The Rover app is a platform that allows you to provide your pet sitting services on an open marketplace. In other words, you can get paid just for taking care of friendly cats or dogs in your spare time on your own schedule!
Rover is also great if you don’t have any pets but have been thinking of getting one. You can take care of other people’s cats or dogs to see how it would be like (and make money on the side while you’re at it)!
Click here to download Rover and sign up as a pet sitter.
How to get started on Rover (Step-by-step)
- Download the free Rover app by clicking or tapping here.
- Upon opening the app, tap “More” on the bottom of your screen (iOS), or tap the menu bar in the upper left corner of your screen (Android).
- Tap “Become a Rover sitter or walker.”
- Lastly, tap “Get Started,” fill out your profile and submit.
You should hear back from Rover in an e-mail within five business days with an account approval or rejection. Once your profile has been approved and you pass the background check given by Checkr, you are ready to offer your pet services on the Rover marketplace!
Click here to create a free account on Rover.
TaskRabbit
Average hourly pay range: Set your own rate. You can make as much as $150 an hour.
Level of difficulty: Varies on the task.
Do you often get asked to do odd jobs or small tasks by friends and family? Wish you could do this more often and actually make some decent money?
Well.
Now there’s an app that lets you make a reliable income doing odd jobs for folks in your local neighborhood! It’s called TaskRabbit.
On TaskRabbit, you get paid for completing odd jobs or services known as tasks. There are literally hundreds of tasks that you can do such as: TV mounting, furniture assembly, moving, shopping, or something as simple as folding t-shirts.
During a tough time in my life financially I had signed up to become a tasker and made a good bit of money doing these tasks. So I do recommend TaskRabbit as a legit side gig if you’re up for doing jobs that are flexible and looking to meet new people while you’re at it.

FlexJobs
In my experience, the best way to find legit online part-time jobs that pay well is to use an affordable service Flexjobs. And, when I say affordable, I mean it. Flexjobs costs than a large pizza!

Flexjobs fully vets work-from-home jobs to make sure they and the companies providing them are legit, the job descriptions and salary provided are accurate, and that they are actually hiring now.
Their experience is guaranteed ad-free and scam-free, saving you countless hours that would otherwise go to waste during a job hunt.

Steady App
Created in 2017, Steady is an amazing free job search app that gives you access to the best part-time jobs, full-time jobs, and work-from-home jobs. The idea was to streamline the job search and opportunities into one convenient app for easy browsing.
And, they do a pretty good job at it!
The interface is incredibly easy to navigate, and there are quite literally hundreds of jobs available that are hiring right now.
Steady would’ve been an absolute lifesaver for me back when I was looking for part-time jobs years ago. So if you’re looking for extra income that’s stable, I highly recommend using Steady.
Other Legit Job Search Boards for Part-time Jobs Online
Upwork – is a website dedicated to freelancers to connect with potential clients. There are part-time job opportunities as well as full-time that are available.
ZipRecruiter – New job listings get posted here daily. Over 8 million jobs of all kinds are listed on ZipRecruiter. Their interface is user-friendly and applying to jobs is really easy with most of them being 1-click applications. Sign up for a free account on ZipRecruiter by clicking here.
Indeed – A job board that is similar to ZipRecruiter with more listings in my experience and the ability to sort by date of job posting. However, their interface can be a bit clunky, and it takes longer to apply for jobs.
Monster – One of the oldest job boards around. If you’re looking to cast a wide net on part-time jobs, then Monster is worth checking out.
Best part-time professional jobs
These are part-time jobs that require professional degrees, but they are all high-paying jobs with great outlooks in the present and future.
Artificial intelligence jobs (and related)
Average hourly pay range: $32-$76 per hour
Level of difficulty: 5 out of 5 stars.
Machine learning and artificial intelligence technology have seemingly taken the business and tech world by storm. And, it’s here to stay.
This technology is ever-present in our smartphones, computing, healthcare system, financial trading, and even in something like Netflix. The boom in machine learning has not only helped to optimize these industries, but it’s lead to the creation of new, high-paying job opportunities.
So, what exactly is artificial intelligence?
First, you should understand what machine learning is. Machine learning is the process in which computing systems are programmed in a certain way to process large chunks of data (or information) and identify patterns, understand the meaning(s), and make decisions with little to no human intervention. Artificial intelligence is what results from this machine learning process. It is meant to mimic human intelligence.
Machine learning jobs can be done from home.
But, at a minimum, you will need an M.S. or Ph D. in computer science and proficient skill in machine learning development, coding such as Python, and 3 years of job or intern experience that can relate to machine learning in some way.
You can find legit machine learning and artificial intelligence online jobs on Flexjobs, Upwork or LinkedIn. Use search terms like “deep learning jobs” or “machine learning jobs.”
Most of the remote jobs you’ll find will be engineer or research-related.
Click here to sign up for Flexjobs to get access to artificial intelligence jobs online.
Attorney
Average hourly pay range: $58-$120 per hour
Level of difficulty: 5 out of 5 stars.
That’s right. Lawyers can actually work from home now!
If you are a lawyer in good standing with your local bar association, there are legitimate opportunities for you to work-from-home part-time.
The most common online jobs for lawyers I’ve seen have been in business or finance law. However, there are jobs available in other law fields as well.
You can find the best online jobs for lawyers on Flexjobs, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, or by leveraging business contacts on LinkedIn. Upon my research, Flexjobs seemed to have the largest selection. They do vet online jobs to make sure they’re legitimate for a small fee, but it’s well worth it to save yourself time and headache.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where do I find full-time work-from-jobs?
You will primarily find them on job search boards, particularly Flexjobs. Feel free to check out our comprehensive post on full-time work-from-jobs by clicking here.
How do I avoid online job scams?
Research the company you applied for reviews on Glassdoor and Indeed. Look at what past and present employees are saying. Doing this for every single company can be time-consuming, and you may not be able to find adequate reviews. If you’re really concerned, I recommend signing up for Flexjobs. It’s a tiny price to pay for the peace of mind you’ll get knowing the jobs are screened for legitimacy.
What is the easiest part-time job that I can do online?
Oh, without a doubt that’s taking surveys from home. I recommend SurveyJunkie because they pay well for a survey site, and you can cash out the same or next day.
I need part-time work now. And, I really mean now. Who’s hiring fast?
Well, if you really need money now, I recommend an app-based job like Instacart, DoorDash, or Merchandiser. If you can’t wait for the hiring process to finish and need to get paid immediately, start taking surveys and completing online tasks. Qmee and SurveyJunkie have low payment thresholds and essentially have immediate cashouts.
View our free guide on maximizing your earnings with these surveys and task sites at this link.
While I need money fast, I have a little time to look around for a better paying part-time job that lets me work from home. Any good companies hiring?
Yes. All of the companies listed in this post are hiring right now or hire on a regular basis. For a more expanded job search, I recommend Flexjobs.
