Official Rules and Disclaimer for the Writer Spectacle Skill Based Contest


Contest Participation

The Luster Lexicon Writer Spectacle or Writer Spectacle for short is a skill-based contest. This contest is not limited to subscribers of Luster Lexicon. No purchase is necessary to enter or win in the Writer Spectacle. Any resident of the United States, 18 years or older (or the age of consent in your state) only may enter, void where prohibited by law.

You must have a valid e-mail and respond to any contest communication inquiries within 1 week or risk losing eligibility for the contest period. Family and those employed with Luster Lexicon are ineligible to enter or win.

Your entry must be in English in order to qualify. Limit 1 winner per household per calendar year.

How to Enter

There are two rounds: Interview and then the Final Round. Each Round has one method of entry. For Round 1, This method is broken down into the following steps: 1) Eligible visitors go to: lusterlexicon.com/writer-spectacle/interview . 2) Scroll down the page until you reach the Writer Spectacle Interview Form. This Form is a series of interview questions that are relevant for evaluating participants. 3) Fill out the Form to the best of your ability. 4) Review and understand the following before submitting your Form: Official Rules and Disclaimer for the Writer Spectacle, Terms of Use, and Privacy Policy. 5) Submit your form.

After entries have been evaluated and selected by the Judge, selected participants of Interview can now move on to the Final Round. Selected participants will be e-mailed a special password-protected link (lusterlexicon/wsfinal), along with the password to access the page.  This page is necessary for the single method of entry into the Final Round.  This method of entry is broken down into the following steps: 1) Selected participants go to lusterlexicon.com/wsfinal . This page contains the Writer Spectacle Final Round  Form. This Form is a series of questions that are relevant for evaluating participants. 2) Fill out the Form to the best of your ability. 3) Review and understand the following before submitting your Form: Official Rules and Disclaimer for the Writer Spectacle, Terms of Use, and Privacy Policy. 4) Submit your form.

How Entries are Scored

For the Interview round, each entry will be scored by 1 Judge. Three categories will be used:

Participants level of commitment to the craft of writing on a scale from 1-10 (one to ten) with 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest.

Effort in filling out the form on a scale from 1-10 (one to ten) with 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest.

Quality of writing work on a scale from 1-10 (one to ten) with 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest.

Total available points for Round 1: 30. Entries with a score of 24 or more points will move on to the Final Round.

 

For the Final Round, each entry will be scored by 1 Judge. two categories will be used:

Degree of innovation in answers and written work on a scale from 1-20 (one to twenty) with 20 being the highest and 1 being the lowest.

Stand out factor on a scale from 1-20 (one to twenty) with 20 being the highest and 1 being the lowest.

Total available points for Final Round: 40. Total available points for Round 1 and Final Round combined: 70

The eight participants with the highest total combined points and a minimum threshold of 58 each will be selected to win the Prize. If there are less than eight participants who make the 58 point threshold then only those who made the threshold will be selected to win the Prize.

How Entries are Judged

Entries will be judged using the scoring system found in “How Entries are Scored” by one (1) Judge, the owner of the Luster Lexicon platform, Yom A. Rahznah, aka Gregory A. Smith Jr.

The Judge reserves the right to disqualify an entry if it is found to be dishonest or deceitful in nature.

Contest Period and Deadlines

The Writer Spectacle cycle lasts for thirty (30) days and consists of two rounds and two evaluation periods. All periods and rounds end on PST. Interview is open for eighteen days (18). Interview closes at 11:59.99pm on the 18th day. Evaluation by the Judge takes place for three (3) days beginning on midnight of the 19th day. The evaluation period ends at 11:59.99pm of the 3rd day which leads into the Final Round on the following midnight (22nd day)

Final Round is open for five (5) days, closing at 11:59.99pm on the 5th day (26th day). Entries are scored and judged for three (3) days (29th day). Eight winners will be announced on the 30th day by 11:59.99pm

This totals to a thirty (30) day cycle that will repeat indefinitely, selecting 8 new winners for each period to win the Prize (see section below for Prize) and replace the previous winners’ Prize. On occasion, up to 10 winners may be selected, which will be clearly specified on lusterlexicon.com/writer-spectacle/

Prize

For a period of thirty (30) days starting the day after the Final Round winners have been announced, eight (8) Selected Final Round participants or Winners will be awarded the following: 1) Winner’s provided photo from interview questions and answers along with a link to the Writer Spectacle, where Winners will be featured, posted on a designated space within the online  Luster Lexicon Newsletter. 2) Interview questions and Winners answers to them featured on lusterlexicon.com/writer-spectacle or it’s subpage(s). 3) Winner’s provided photo from interview questions along with a link to the Writer Spectacle, where Winners will be featured on a designated space on the front page.

Odds of winning

There are no odds of winning. This is a skill-based contest, not a game of chance.

Release of Liability

By entering this contest you agree to the rules of this contest, and you agree to hold Luster Lexicon and its owner harmless from liability where applicable by law. Judge rulings are final. If a dispute should arise between an individual and Luster Lexicon, by entering this contest you authorize Luster Lexicon to resolve the issue as they see fit.

Contest Cancellation

Luster Lexicon reserves the right to cancel the Writer Spectacle at any time and for any reason, including but not limited to cyber attacks, foul play, spam, and fake entries.

List of Winners

If you’d like a list of winners two weeks after the contest period ends, Email submissions@lusterlexicon.com@gmail.com with the subject line “request list of winners”  along with the end date of the specific Writer Spectacle contest. Or, you may view lusterlexicon.com/writer-spotlight.
